NEWS ALERT! Peter is now 23
23 feels alot like 22, not much has changed. The one life lesson I have ever learned in my years, and quite possibly the only truth in the universe, is that all I can know is know myself. Temet Nosce. For if there is one thing I can truly know in existence is myself. A lot of people in my age group and generation have trouble with this. I pity them.
A neat thing about getting older, some things from the past take on new meaning and have deeper impact. I memorized (thanks to Stac) the first Matrix movie by heart not knowing the relevance some of the scenes would have to me in the future. Great movie, too bad the sequels weren't as good.

Watched Pulp Fiction today, I forgot how awesome that movie was.

I forgot to mention in my last post, Kevin Smith at his Comic-Con panel announced to the audience that he will be slowly retiring from movies to step aside to let new young filmmakers (like yours truly) take over. That in my mind and watching Tarantino got me inspired. I need practice writing to where my character dialogue is as badass as Quentin and Kevin (yes I call them by their first names, cause they are my equals!) . It's time yet again for a Motion City Soundtrack song that is relative to what I'm talking about.

Harry Potter and the Xbox Live Rewards
So I've seem to be following a pattern of posting every other day rather than every day. You must really dedicate yourself to blogging and not have a life to do it every day. Who has the time? Anyways, the following are about June 9th and today of what I did or what I remember doing

JUNE 9Th
Was a whole marathon reading day of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (should I put the title in bold or italics? Guess bold will do) which I found free online I might add, one of my previous posts shows the website to find it. I am enjoying it both the storyline and as an easy read... And it IS an easy read, despite the length. People shouldn't be afraid to pick it up.
Anyways, as I was reading I kept thinking to myself... *with a cockney accent* "That's not so hard, we can do that."
... Or rather "I can do that." I felt like I could write something to the grandeur as Harry Potter. Somehow I had it built up in my head since I last read Goblet of Fire (which was the last book for me, I skipped to Hallows and watched the movies of the rest) many moons ago when I was a wee lad or more wee than I am now that J.K.Rowling had wrote this epic legendary story like Shakespeare wrote Twelfth Night. Which it wasn't and isn't, it's simply a good read. Still writing anything does take a bit a skill and though I may not reach the complexity of Bill (Shakespeare, he told me to call him by his first name), I can at least achieve context and plot structure similar to Harry Potter.
I am not criticizing the author in any way, if anything I have even more respect for her. What is needed, is a good story and to get down and dirty in the writing process. So far I have written screenplays that go unread in the warmth of my computer's hard drive. I do have a concept and characters that I think have not been done, in which to make a book. Only problem is, I do not have a story for them. I only have the bare essentials. So I shall meditate on it, til i can find a situation in which I can flung my characters in to test their humanity.
I can not divulge anything more (saving it from being swiped from the internet, even though you Tres are my only follower atm) but I do have names of locations, things, ,and people. I also have an idea of my main characters' histories, personalities, and ambitions. Its good that I have those things concrete at least.
Uh... and onto the next day...

Much like any other day, only with FREE MICROSOFT POINTS!!! OH YEAH!!! =)
Yes, after being pushed back to the furthest regions of my mind... which look something like this...
Back when Xbox Live introduce their Rewards program to me in an e-mail. I signed up and joined. For those that don't know, the program rewards you points for all that you do on Live including: renewing Live membership, purchasing things on the Marketplace, and doing an online quiz every month. All get you delicious delicious points which then get converted into delicious delicious Microsoft Points (which are used to purchase and download anything on your 360: movies, game add-ons, music, avatar items, so on and so on). The kicker is that they do not convert them into Microsoft points until they have enough to give to you. So... I signed up maybe around the beginning of the year (possibly earlier than that) and now they finally gave me 520 Microsoft Points! WOOT WOOT!

Uncanny
Just saw X-Men: First Class!
Very interesting. It's almost as if Bryan Singer said, "You know those movies I wasn't a part of? Let's say they didn't happen."
Look for my first upcoming post on Here's What They Said to be about X-Men: First Class. Here's where you'll be able to find it, in case you forgot, http://hereswhattheysaid.tumblr.com/
I enjoyed how it was a period movie (Cold War/ Cuban Missile Crisis) and I thought Prof.X and (especially) Magneto were both pitch perfect.
Some things I could've done without: the lame new generation mutants that they stuck into the storyline (Angel, wtf? Darwin, yeah right! The Whirlwind Guy, who the fuck was he?) , the first scene (Hello, that was from the first movie which was not too long ago. People should still have that in their knowledge.), and those damn training montages (which every superhero movie has now).
Things I would put in: A better beginning (with a much much younger Prof.X like when he's 6, finding out his power for the first time, Mystique kicking ass (she has no combat in this movie once so ever), and more character development for Banshee and Havok.
Overall the movie should be treated as a separate entity, apart from the comics and even the movies. It is almost a reboot but not quite.
SPOILER ALERT! Highlight the area before for my explanation on how First Class counteracts the franchise's movie-verse continuity with specific instances brought up in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As well as some major differences it has with the comic books.
Okay so first of all, of the true First Class team only Beast is represented in this movie. They left Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman (more like Snowman, booooong!), and Angel as cannon to the other films. Also there is no mention in the comics or anything up until this movie of the friendship between Prof.X and Mystique, what a bazaar pairing. There is no attempt at making a relationship or connection to Azezel and Mystique (parents to Nightcrawler), only a implication as they both BAMF! together in league with Magneto at the end. In the movie Cerebro was created by Beast, in the comics it was actually created by Forge. That was all well and good, it's common enough for movie adaptations to step on the toes of their comic book versions. As for the films, one prime example of a breach in the cannon is during a scene (which I suppose was suppose to be a lighthearted scene not to be taking seriously) where Hugh Jackman himself reprises his role as Wolverine as a young Prof.X and Magneto go looking for mutants to recruit with their own version of Cerebro find Wolverine sitting at a bar at which he replies "Fuck off!" to which they take their leave and the crowd laughs hysterically. Good fun indeed, however even if it was a brief meeting wouldn't the Professor (and possibly Magneto too) recognize Wolverine as they meet up again later on in life (for which Wolverine cannot due to the memory wipe in Origins) at least somewhat? Or was Patrick Stewart simply holding back a lot of secrets from everyone, including "Hey, Scott! You know your long lost brother Alex (Havok)? I knew him!" ? Another thing, is the usage of certain characters that both negate First Class' relations to Last Stand and Origins. For one, Moira Mctaggert was used which was a wise choice and she was portrayed well. However, near the end James Mccavoy (Prof. X) mentally erases her mind... So how can she know him, attend his funeral, or help him achieve rebirth after the credits of Last Stand? Does this negate Last Stand completely? Meaning that it might not have possiblly happened? Which would be a very good thing. Next First Class uses Emma Frost the White Queen as a villain and one accurate to the comics at that. But she too was used before, in Origins as one of the young little mutants Wolverine frees. At the end of Origins:Wolverine, a young Emma Frost along with a young Cyclops and a bunch of others (including possibly Magento's own offspring, Quicksilver) flee Alkali Lake as they join Prof.X (Stewart, this time not Mccavoy, who has full use of his legs I might add) for a fun helicopter ride in which I'm guessing he explains their going to go to a school. So where can we place First Class in the continuity of the movie-verse. Like I said before it is as if Bryan Singer said "You know those movies I wasn't a part of? Let's say they didn't happen." Which means First Class honors X-men and X2: X-men United respectively. Even yet it should be viewed as its own thing, not quite a reboot but almost. This left me (a diehard fan of everything X-men and fan of the movies as well even Last Stand and Origins which are my least favorites) with a feeling of "Huh?" I can only wait for the trailer to the next movie to determine if it will fall in the line to the first X-Men movie or if it will stray off and be independent. Like how the Doc explained it in Back to the Future Part 2 when young Biff got the sports almanac and created an alternate timeline. The lines spewed down and made their own future. GREAT SCOTT!

Went on a grocery spree today. Got everything I ever dreamed of except chocolate bacon, guess I'll have to go to the fair for that. Always use Apu's system when searching for a fast checkout line and avoid the elderly.
